Associations

Sterling Structures has been a member of the Association of General Contractors since the company’s founding in 1997. CEO Jay Carlton served on the Board of the Houston AGC Chapter for 13 years.  Jay formerly served on the AGC/AIA Committee for 20 years.

Sterling adheres to all AGC safety program initiatives. Random jobsite inspections are completed by the chapter’s safety inspector, and OSHA compliance reports are issued. Sterling field supervisors are certified and trained in first aid, CPR and fall procedures, and are designated as the “competent person” for issues like confined space situations, excavations and fall hazards. Weekly “toolbox” safety meetings are held at each jobsite, in English and Spanish.

All of Sterling Structures superintendents have completed their OSHA 30 safety training.  All of Sterling’s project labor crews have completed their OSHA 10 safety training.

Sterling Structures continues its safety service relationships, inspections and training through AGC Houston and the Houston Area Safety Council (HASC).

Sterling continues to enjoy its 2024 workers compensation experience modifier at 0.88.

In 2024, Sterling received a workers compensation award for the tenth year in a row of zero lost time accidents. We most recently received the Texas Building Branch Award.  With this acknowledgement, we were granted a super bonus from Comp Group/AGC and rated “best of the best” contractors in the state of Texas.
